Gary has been involved with bowling for most of his life. From watching his parents bowl as a toddler all the way up through mostly his entire adult working life, bowling has been a
major part of Gary’s life. His time working in the bowling industry began as a porter while a teenager at his local bowling center and continued on through a long tenure as a pro shop operator, to writing and publishing in both local bowling newspapers and
instructional books, to competing at the highest level on the PBA Tour, there isn’t much that Gary has not seen in the world of bowling.

Recently, Gary has focused on helping other bowlers. From his time as a youth bowler
all the way through the professional ranks, Gary leans quite a bit on his actual competitive
experience when passing along his knowledge. Besides his bowling experience, Gary has an educational background in psychology with a Master of Arts degree in General Psychology with a post-baccalaureate certificate specializing in Sport Psychology. Combined with his actual live experience, his educational background helps give him a unique perspective of both the physical and mental aspects of bowling. 

Gary’s desire to give back to the sport and helping others doesn’t stop with coaching
and consulting as he has worked in administrative capacities in the sport as well. He has served as the Association Manager for the Oregon State USBC as well as being a director for the local Greater Portland USBC. Also, Gary has taken over the reins to the Oregon Junior Classic Tournament Association (OJCTA) since 2017 and currently serves as the tournament director for the OJCTA events.

While bowling has been the passion of Gary’s life, the other passion in his life would be
writing as observed with his time writing articles for local news publications and helping pen instructional books. In these pages, Gary will continue to share, through his writing, some of his thoughts and observations of our wonderful sport of bowling.
